Message:i spent many an hour as a kid glued to Broken Sword, imho i think the second one is the best,i played 3 and 4 to completion but feel broken sword should be 2D not 3D everyone remembers games from back then in this format which is what makes them what they are,Dogs bark, skys blue.... BS should be 2D,i also wonder what happened to Nico and Georges relationship maybe someone could shed light on it (i do remember in BS3 him referring to Nico just thinking of her carreer as opposed to them) maybe this is the explanation, woulkd love to see the next game back to its original format, currently playing BS2 for the 19th time, tryin to beat my time record :)

Message:Ive played the first 3 and the first is by far the best imo.It had the feel and wonder that is rarely equalled even in this current generation of gaming. It goes to show a good plot that is portrayed well goes a long long way.ps agree that the classic 2D style is best,3D style is a bit charmless and ruins the atmosphere that was felt more in the 2D games

Message:Great games, but like many other i feel the game creators should have stuck with the 2d cartoon effect, I feel the 3rd and 4th games lost all of the character and charm that the first two had...... To the makers of BS2.5 also brilliant but were are the English voices? And can somebody please please please find the time to make BS 3+4 into the original 2d cartoon graphics I feel it would be a great improvement and all lovers of the game will believe so......

Message:BS 1, what an awesome adventure game & BS 2 was great also, wished it had been abit longer, but not complaining bout it,loved everything about them, felt number 3 & 4 had lost the Broken Sword's deeply felt Charm & Magic that made the first 2 games stand out, there wasn't a need to go 3D,if it aint broke don't fix it as the saying goes,i have all BS games,BS 1 & 2 on PC & PS1 & also got 3 on PS2 & 4 on PC, im a big Broken Sword fan absolutely love the series, can't wait for the movie & the new sequel, if Charles Cecil is thinkin bout making BS5,hopefully it'll go back to the Classic 2D look(which is what made broken sword so great) & for those who haven't played Broken Swords 1 & 2 your missing out on something special. Message:I've only played broken sword 1 (for gameboy advance) but i loved every second of it. I've always dreamed about adventure but never found any good adventure game, i've played oblivion, morrowind, and a lot of other adventure/rpg games which were great but none of those can be compared with the charm and deep of Broken Sword. I just recently picked it up after 3 years of dusting in the closet and i instantly remembered the hot summer outside in the garden when i played the campaign of bs my very first time and i still today remember that i were in the church level with the huge colorful windows and the priest. I want to thank the company that made this game for really thinking and making a game that has a deep and complicated storyline. Today there is few people who makes such games and everyone makes gory violent shooters without any story at all. Hope we will see more deep adventure games in the future. Peace

Message:Broken Sword is one of the greatest games ever! I was only 7 years old when the first one came out and I would never have got such an interest in the templars at such a young age if it wasn't for that and I wouldn't have done an A level in history if it was not for broken sword either. The first 2 games were magnificent, i'm so glad to hear that broken sword 2.5 will have the same format as the first 2 games.

Message:Hi , i luv he Bs games, i personally think all of them are brilliant even the xbox one, my dad has even got into them and now we both are playing bs 4 its a bit jumpy on my laptop, but it is something i can get used to, bs 4 never used to play on my computer so i had to play it round my uncles house, but then i thought i would try it on the laptop and bingo it worked, i am so happy the puzzles are really hard, i am not going to look at the walkthrough guide cos that spoils it. I have heard quite a lot about the bs movie and that the Broken Sword series is destined for the Nintendo DS, i hope it is still the same as the pc like the atmospere. Bs 10/10, this site 10/10 a fantastic site, i am going to keep coming on this site cos there is loads of stuff to do and read, keep up the good work guy's.

Message:Enormous BS fan, without a doubt bs 1 & 2 my favorite games, and I have a lot to compare with. I also really enjoyed 3 & 4, without loving them as much. I think the jump to 3d was fine, but it would have been such an improvement if they had kept the cell shaded graphics. This is because the animation really suffered in 3d, and therefore many of the characters lost some element of their charm. If any of you have played Ratchet and Clank on playstation, it might give you an idea about the sort of 3d animation I think would be better. Not nescesarily the cartoony backdrops, but the characters are superbly animated to show emotion. Also the puzzles in the first two were more focused on using comonplace objects in unusual ways. I know there was some of this in the later ones, but somehow it felt different. There were fewer unique "voice lines" to go with different interactions in the later ones. Anyway, that was a long post! thanks for listening to my suggestions, any I hope revolution pay close attention! Over and out

Message:BS4, BSAoD, Secret of the ark: a Broken Sword game... w\e you call it... I Started playing the game just after it's release and had to stop half way through do to the Stuttering and mouse lag. Now that I found the fixes for these problems I have once again took on the adventure. I must say that the game's story line was excellent (since I am a big templar and biblical fanatic) but felt the game lacked the classic puzzles that we seen in BS1&2. BS3 was nothing but a box pusher game and I felt that BS4 was more set into hacking wireless servers (hand held puzzle game) then actual personal interactive puzzles. I must admit the only hard puzzle that I got stuck at was: Hacking into the the military base for bomb defuse plans. i found all the other puzzles to be common-sense and really didn't challenge the mind as much as they could have. I enjoyed the game thoroughly until the end. I won't ruin the ending by telling your what happens. I will simply say that I thought the ending was un-original and left you hanging with questions that should have been answered. [Skitzo]

Message:I first found out about Broken Sword in a demo disc of games for the Playstation 1 before it was released in the UK around about 10 years ago. Me and my brother played it and soon became hooked to it's unique interactive problem-solving style, exciting storyline, theme music and brilliantly humorous characters. We placed an order for it so that we would be able to continue playing it as soon as it came out in the stores. George Stobbart's mannerisms stay with us to this day: "uhhh....no." and "that is NOT a good idea."!! Our enthusiasm for the game is still strong as it was 10 years ago.

Message:Hi! I commend the developers of this fansite for their exemplary work. This is the best Broken Sword fansite. Great design. Very minimalistic, yet packed with loads of great information. BS3 is my favorite in the series. Even though I played the original BS game in 1996, I favor the 3D look over the cartoonish 2D which seems dated. Many say BS3 and BS4 are not as good as BS1 and BS2, and base it all on the change of graphics and controls. Point-N-Click is a good system, but Charles Cecil has done right by switching to keyboard/pad controls and 3D. Those changes breathed new life into the series. Gaming is progressing, and one of the major reasons why adventure games are no longer successful is because the genre refuses to grow and expand out of its niche. And for those who gripe about 3D graphics and keyboard controls, look at Grim Fandango, arguably the greatest adventure game ever. Guess what, keyboard controls and character models in 3D. BS3's story is the best as well. The 1st and 2nd featured the Knights Templar and ancient Mayan culture, respectively, concepts that were used MANY times before and were hardly original. BS3 featured new, original concepts like Ley Lines and Earth Energy. BS3's characters were flashed out in much greater detail. Each character felt alive, in-depth, unique. Parts of the story were tragic, emotional, heroic. The game was darker, more foreboding than the other 3 in the series. The environments were far bigger than the first two games and there was always a certain sense of urgency and drama throughout the game, something that I never exprienced in the first two games. Overall, BS3 is the best in the series.

Message:Well I just this minute finally got done playing BS4. I really like the way they tried to mix up the roles of George and Nico (although I always think there should be more of Nico playing primary lol) and I thought some of the puzzles were really top notch. My only sadness is that the ending felt extremely rushed. Otherwise a really good solid game - I personaly like the 3D format generally (bearing in mind that I didn't discover the series til BS3) but I think I preferred the 3D style of BS3 over BS4 because it retained an element of simplicity and it didn't have any of those weird polygon mistakes that cropped up from time to time in BS4 (especially in the steam rooms, which I thought were a really fun idea btw). Great game overall - please bring us BS5!

Message:Dear Readers of broken sword planet. It has come to my attention that there are many complaints about the new Broken Swords 3D format. I wrote to Charles Cecil with a few ideas for the future installments of Broken Sword. In my email i particulary pushed the issue of treansition from 2D to 3D graphics. This is an extract from the letter: 1. Please, please go back to the original cartoon style. As much as i like seeing the broken sword universe in 3D, nothing beats the classic format. I loved Broken Sword 3 and 4, but both using the 3D format, they suffered from a number of gameplay flaws. There was a feeling of confusion while exploring the large, spacious environments. The puzzles became harder, not because of the logic being stepped up a notch, but because of massive increase of available options. Doing this will also fix the issue of the problematic camera angles. Keeping with the original cult following is the safer route. To try and update the games graphics jeapordises the games old fan base. To which he replied with: I completely sympathise with your comments on 2D vs 3D. 3D does open up opportunities but, as you say, it introduces issues. I am taking comments like these - you will appreciate that you are not the first to make them - very seriously. Perhaps then, Broken Sword's future instalments may return to the classic cartoon style! We will have to wait and see. Any way, if you have any more questions on my letter to Mr. Cecil, my email is: mr.bad_example@hotmail.com

Message:Hi Everyone you know I think i'm among those true followers of the Broken Sword games who think it was a big mistake to make BS3 and BS4 in 3D, Revolution turned around and stated it was keeping up with the technology because people wouldn't be interested in 2D games when there's so much lush 3D enviormental games out there but I think they couldn't be any more wrong. I loved the cartoon drawn look of BS1 and BS2, it was it's cartoon 2D look that attracted me in the first place. When BS3 came out I was so dissapointed I missed the old style of Broken sword. I play Half life 2, It uis what is is a truly great FPS with realistic graphics but that doesn't mean Broken Sword should be 3D it was great the way it was. Look at the votes, there's a higher percentage think the new Broekn Sword games should be 2D and I agree with all my heart. I mean they still could improve with the graphics but keep it 2D a good example of this is the upcoming game "Runaway 2 The Dream of the Turtle" which remains true to 2D point and clicks yet displays greater graphics than the previous generation of point and clicks. This is howthey should have made Broken Sword I can even go as far as to say that old fans of the original Broken Sword were put of when it changed to 3D I just hope revolution realise what the fans really want and not what they think true 21st century gaming should be. thanks everyone for reading.... over and out!!

Message:Hi! I agree with you Emma. I bought BS1 and 2 the summer of 2006 and just loved them. When BS4 came I thought it stinked. Graphics were bad, (It looked to much playstation to me) and the story ended so abrupt. Sometimes games are supposed to end at there best. Perhaps these games should have ended in 1997? I would hope that Mr. Charles Cecil would give us a new BS-game in 2D, in real old-school style. Just like we want them...

Message:Bs4 is a very good game unlike the 1st one which is just the best game ever made. The 3rd game wasnt too amazing but still good. But i spose we are stuck with 3d because its just the way everything goes, 2D was the best, just like in games such as mario and sonic.

Near the church was a templars museum as well. It wasnt so cool though... There were a lot of pictures and a lot of french texts round it but I unfortunately cant speak french so it was for me a little dissapointing :(. But there were somekind of coins or seals of the noble templars families or something like that. A lot of them had two knights on one horse on them. :) Unfortunately I could not find de Vasconcelos among them :)

I played Broken Sword The Shadow of the Templars (El Secreto de los Templarios) and I fell in love with it: with Nico, with George... The second game was a very nice surprise to me, because I didn't know it existed. If I loved Broken Sword before playing the Smoking Mirror, after that I became addict to this game... I became addict to the voices, and I wanna hear them again. I`ve already bpught and played the Sleeping Dragon and I'm desperated for the Angel of Death. I need those characters, I need those voices, I need those exaggerated international conspirations... As I said, I'm glad to have found a place where people with my same passion talk about this fabulous game that will be remembered for a long long time. Message:I think someone should make a movie about one of the games! It would be like a modern indiana Jones and ofcourse with all the grate jokes that george does al the time! :-D But maybe it would destroy the fun with the games..? Anyway, I love the games and I hope BS4 will come out on PS2 in the summer too here in sweden!!

Message:I must admit that broken sword 3 sucks. Some say that its a modern revolutianry adventure. What has it so revolutinary beyond its control - which i must say is comfortable...? The story is like from some hollywood indiana-jones-copy crap film (whats the shit about making george knight - my god), the difficulty is like for some 11year-old kid that havent played any adventure before (did anyone of you noticed that your inventory is full of items that youre never going to use?), the action parts of the game are ... let me just say soooo stupid and absolutely NOT FUN, the end of the game is like cut from some RPG game like Might and Magic and is sooooo pathetic - one of the mosts idiotic ends I ever saw. If there werent George with his cool voice and manners I would surely never play this. Im really glad that the BS4 is going to be point and click and that there wouldnt be any patheticaly easy boring puzzles like pushing shitty crates.
